Trevor Salé
the process of removal
application of first three layers.

the darkest variety is applied first, covering the entire work. once dry, the next coat is rolled on etc.

the greys of the clouds are then added (here I reversed the order to lightest first so as to ease the transition from cloud to sky)

ground colour is applied darkest to lightest

for the leaves, green is applied over the ground colours (darkest to lightest)

the yellows of the flowers are next (darkest to lightest)

the three layers of flower centers are applied with a brush (darkest to lightest)
to avoid excessive sanding, I have begun applying paint to general areas where the colour is needed, rather than every layer covering the entire piece.
now the removal begins. where the layers are lightest to darkest in application, in removal the more you sand an area the lighter it gets.
and vice versa.
as the paint comes off, the painting takes shape.

and the final product is thus:

all removal paintings are signed on the back and have an imprint of my thumb in paint behind the top right corner of each work
